Charles W. Orville, 50, of Duluth, Minnesota, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Hospice Unit, Duluth, MN.

He was born in Superior, WI on December 27, 1960, the son of Charles William and Patricia Maureen (Stanton) Orville.

He married Diane Pearson on April 24, 1998 at the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior.

Charles graduated from Superior Senior High School and he attended Bemidji State University, University of Minnesota, Duluth and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Superior with a degree in Geology. He was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as an Engineering Specialist for over twenty-three years. He moved to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin where he lived and worked for seventeen years and had lived in Duluth for the past four years.

Charles was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Duluth; a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member and a member of the Madison Technical Club. He enjoyed camping, music, basketball and spending time with friends.

Charles is survived by his wife, Diane, Duluth, MN; his mother, Patricia Senn, Superior; three sisters, Marcie (Dan Romans) Orville, Duluth, MN, Edie (Troy Geyer) Harty, Superior, WI and Kelly (Tony) Brevig, Bemidji, MN; mother-in-law, Gert Pearson; one niece, Riley Bresina, Bemidji, MN; and several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Bud” Orville; maternal grandparents, Charles and Edith Stanton; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Marian Orville; father-in-law, Evert Pearson; one brother-in-law, Patrick James Harty.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 21, 2011 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11: 00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Father Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
