Charlotte "Char" I. Laureys

Charlotte “Char” I. Laureys, 81, Superior resident, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI. She was born on May 2, 1938 in Iron River, WI to Simon and Sarah (Hughes) Crase.

Charlotte married Edward Laureys on August 2, 1969 and celebrated fifty years of marriage. Char was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. She spent much of her time playing in the Duals Polka Band with her husband. The Duals performed for thirty-five years at nursing homes and the Moose Lodge with Char as their vocalist, guitarist and banjo player. When Char wasn’t traveling with her husband and playing in her band she loved to bake. She also loved being with her family and friends. She was a spunky and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Char is survived by her husband, Edward; three daughters, Carrie (Tim) Gallagher, Superior, WI, Pam (Rich) Pearson, Woodbury, MN and Cherese (Andy) Pearson, Ankeny, IA; eleven grandchildren, Craig (Brittany) Gallagher, Alissa (Jared) Anderson, Eric (Jenni) Gallagher, Jessica Gallagher, Sean (Katie) Gallagher, Megan Gallagher, Ricky (Jamie) Pearson, Tanner Pearson, Hope (Tristen) Forstner, Mia Pearson and Bryer Pearson; thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Simon and Sarah Crase, first husband Norman Kemp, son Ricky and five brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

The family would like to thank the Twin Ports Rehab Center staff for the care they gave to Char.
