Charmain C. Colby, 45, Maple, WI, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 from sudden medical complications.

In addition to her passing, her family would like everyone to know that she was a Life Source Donor. She was born on August 9, 1968 in Superior, WI to Raymond and Sandra (Stevens) Colby.


She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1986 and went on to receive her degree in medical transcription.


Char had been the owner/operator of the Sundown Café in Maple; she was a cook at the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hawthorne; a waitress at the Covered Wagon in Hawthorne; a homemaker and she catered many events in the area over the years.


She enjoyed her animals, crafts, gardening and canning.


She was a longtime member of Cloverland Covenant Church.


Char is survived by three daughters, Ashley Johnson, Hibbing, MN, Holly and Hannah Koivisto, both of Maple, WI; one son Raymond Koivisto, Maple, WI; one sister, Linnette “Linny” (Jeff) Bowker, Bennett, WI; two brothers, Ken (Diane) Stevens, Ramsey, MN, Rylan Colby, Maple, WI; four nieces, Jessica and Justine Koivisto, Ailien Bowker, Emma Colby; six nephews, Jeffrey (Chelsie) Bowker, Robert Koivisto, Derek Colby, Jon, Daniel and Timothy Stevens; her first husband, Ashley’s father, Douglas Johnson, Sr.; her second husband and father to
Raymond, Holly and Hannah, William Koivisto, Jr. and several aunts, uncles and cousins.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Matthew Stevens; maternal grandparents Harvey and Kathleen Stevens; paternal grandparents, Waino and Ailien Colby, several aunts, uncles and cousins.


Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and will continue on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM until the 12 Noon Memorial Service at Mission Covenant Church, Poplar, WI, with Pastor Charles Ells of Cloverland Covenant Church, officiating.


Inurnment will be in the Spring at the Maple Cemetery.


Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Char’s children in care of Ryland Colby, 11895 E. Autio Rd., Maple, WI 54854.
