Chester "Chet" E. Jenda

Chester “Chet” E. Jenda, 87, longtime East End Superior resident, died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on December 21, 1929 in Superior, WI to Adolph and Josephine (Sawicki) Jenda.

Chet served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the City of Superior as a police officer retiring after thirty-three years of service. He previously worked for the railroad.

Chet married Jean Noble on December 29, 1951 and they celebrated fifty-six years of marriage before her passing in January of 2008.

Chet was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Elks Lodge #403 and the Superior Moose Lodge #606 where he was the oldest living member.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time at his cabin on Crystal Lake in Wascott and wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.

Chet is survived by two daughters, Tracy Jenda, Danbury, WI and Jody Johnson, Antelope, CA; seven grandchildren, Daniel Jenda, Lisa (John) Prendergast and Jessica Rinnet, all of Superior, WI, Bryan, Steven, Julane and Jordyn Johnson, all of Antelope, CA; four great-grandchildren, Ty, Adeline, Aiden and Alexis; one sister, Sally LaRochelle, Superior, WI and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Military Honors will be accorded at church by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard. The Superior Police Honor Guard will also be stationed at the church.
