Chester “Chet” Leinweber, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 24, 2015 at the Golden Living of Superior surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 19, 1931 in Hersey, MI to William and Blanche (Wickett) Leinweber.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from which he retired after 22 years of service.
Chet married Patricia Ray on January 25,1952 in Cambridge, England and celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Together they owned and operated the Forrest Inn in Foxboro for many years.
He was a life member of the VFW Post in Reed City, MI and the American Enlisted Association. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and anything to do with the outdoors.
He and Pat enjoyed vacationing every year in Canada for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife Pat, Chet is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Weck, Superior, Sharon (Wayne) Everrett, Cloquet, MN; one son, Steve Leinweber, Superior; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Morlock and Marjorie Thiery, both of Michigan.
Chet was preceded in death by a son Chester Leinweber, Jr., a grandson, Walter Marlton, a granddaughter, Christine Leinweber and his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, officiating.
Burial will be in the Summitt Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
Downs-LeSage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
