Colleen A. Miller

Colleen Ann Miller, 59, longtime area resident died peacefully, Monday, December 18, 2023, at REM Declaration House in Ashland, Wisconsin after a long fight with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born September 26, 1964, in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Robert and Patricia (DeMoe) Miller.

Colleen graduated from Northwestern High School, class of 1982. She earned her cosmetology license in Eau Claire and worked as a hairdresser in Superior for many years, including owning her own salon, Superior Styles. If you lived in Douglas County, Colleen has probably cut your hair.

Colleen loved to garden, sing, and attend concerts with her sister Robin and friends. She loved animals, especially cats. She was a generous person and so kind to many, particularly older people she befriended. She will be remembered forever for her infectious laugh.

In 2005 Colleen got the biggest and best surprise of her life when her daughter, Aubree Ann, was born. Aubree arrived three months early but immediately became the joy of Colleen’s life.

She is survived by her father, Rob (Donna) Miller; daughter, Aubree Miller, currently attending college in Colorado; special friends, Terry Follis, Ashland, WI, and Becky (Wes) Vork, Carlton, MN; aunt, Cindy Landraint; uncle, Vic (Lee) DeMoe, and several nieces, her nephew, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Dawn Alexson, and Robin Harvey, and her mother, Patricia Wright.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule, WI with Pastor Teena Racheli officiating. A Celebration of Life to follow at the Kro Bar, 13920 US Highway 2 in Brule.

Colleen participated in Alzheimer’s research, tests, studies, and drug trials and will continue her contributions to research via brain donation to UPMC in Pittsburgh.
