Curtis "The Music Man" Leander Brousseau

Curtis “The Music Man” Leander Brousseau, 79, lifelong Superior resident, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on November 16, 1931 in Superior, WI to Fillius and Lorraine (Borg) Brousseau.

At age 14, he started working at various Dairy Farms in Sauk City, Waukesha and Baraboo WI. Then at age 24, started working as an orderly and maintenance man for the Parkland Sanitarium.

He met his wife, Dolores Gurnoe in 1956 and they got married on April 22, 1961 and celebrated thirty-six years of marriage before her passing on April 30, 1997.


In 1962, he started in the bakery business working at Eddie’s Bakery, Zinsmaster and Taystee Bread retiring in 1987as Head Baker.

Curtis was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. He also was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus where he helped distribute tootsie rolls for their drive, Moose Lodge #606 and a former member of the Elk’s Lodge #403.

Curtis bowled in five leagues, five nights a week for fifteen years. He volunteered in a four county area playing music, especially to area nursing homes, calling bingo, bus driving and helping others out.


In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and an infant step-brother Bruce.

There will be no public services to be held. Inurnment will take place at St. Francis Cemetery in Red Cliff, WI.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue Superior is assisting with arrangements.
