Dale C. Piggott, 88, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully, Monday, April 25, 2022, at Twin Ports Rehabilitation with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lawler, MN on September 20, 1933, the son of Clayton and Hazel (Lehto) Piggott.
He graduated from Central High School, class of 1951.
Dale was united in marriage to Patricia Whitacre on November 9, 1957, and they celebrated sixty-four years of marriage before his passing.
Dale retired from the Murphy Oil Refinery after more than 30 years. He was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was active in his community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #499 and served as a volunteer at the Duluth-Superior Intergroup office and St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior. Dale was an avid UWS and Superior Spartan sports fan. He enjoyed golfing, coffee with his friends, annual trips to Lake Havasu, and reminiscing about his years at Murphy Oil. Since 2018, Dale resided at New Perspectives Senior Living in Superior, where he made many new friends and was proud to be voted Valentine’s Day King in 2020. Dale’s greatest passion was watching his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting activities. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat” Piggott, Superior, WI; daughter, Sue (Bill) Strong, Superior, WI; sons, Steve (Julie) Piggott, Southlake, TX, Paul (Dawn) Piggott, Superior, WI, Jim (Jennifer) Piggott, Longmont, CO; daughter-in-law, Colleen Piggott, Hudson, WI; grandchildren: Jen, Ericka, Jeff, Claire, Grace, Alexa, Shane, Kell, Ben, Cameron and Allie; great-grandchildren: Greyson, Evy, and Jace; brother, Dennis (Marilyn) Piggott, Stuart, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Piggott, and his parents.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Twin Ports Rehabilitation, especially Deb, for the kindness and compassion shown to us.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, Monday, May 23, 2022, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul or the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary in Superior, WI.
