Daniel Clemmer

Daniel “Dan” Clemmer, 86, formerly of Hawthorne, WI, died peacefully at his residence in Superior, WI, on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Sadly, Dan lost his battle with cancer on Thanksgiving Day. By his side was his wife Janice, son Guy, and daughter Michele Clemmer. Many other family members, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and good friends were also there with him.

Dan is survived by his wife Janice (Johnson) Clemmer; son, Guy (Patti Barsness) Clemmer, of Hawthorne; and daughter, Michele (Mark Wines) Clemmer, of Superior; grandchildren, James, Danny, Cameron, Katy, Elizabeth, Rhonda, Sarah, Wyatt. Other family members included, Garry (Jacquie) Clemmer, Brule, WI, Mike (Joanne) Clemmer, of Babbitt, MN, Brian (Judy) Clemmer, of Grantsburg, WI, Joy (Allen) Anderson, Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Aunt, Jane Kinyon, of Mpls, MN. There are also many nephews, nieces and cousins, and several good friends who are like family.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Dan and Dolores; wife, Shirley; and two brothers, James and Reuben.

Dan was born on May 2, 1933 in Lawler, MN. His family moved to Hawthorne in 1943. Dan graduated from Northwestern high School in 1953 and was drafted in the Army that same year. He was discharged in 1955. Dan then worked in babbitt, MN for a short period of time. Dan met Shirley Hanson in the fall of 1955 and they were married the following June. Dan attended Dunwoody in Mpls, MN and he and Shirley lived in Hastings, MN for several years. They slater moved back to Hawthorne where Shirley died after 59 years of marriage. Dan later married Janice Johnson and they were happy life partners until his death.

Throughout his life he was skilled in many professions. Dan was well known and loved by many people in the community. He will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 13, 2019, at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 S. County Road P, Poplar, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, the service will follow at 11:00 AM, and lunch will be served after the service. Pastor Carey Vik and Pastor Richard Blood will co-officiate the service.

Military Honors will be accorded at the church following the service.
