Daniel A. Hoyt, 53, South Range resident, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Duluth.
He was born on December 13, 1957 in Superior, WI to Louis and Mabel (Lord) Hoyt, Sr.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1976 and was employed as a greeter for Wal-Mart.
Daniel was a member of the Parkland Volunteer Fire Department and a Boy Scout Leader. He also was a chef at several area eating establishments and was a family caregiver.
Daniel is survived by a daughter, Katherine Hoyt and a son, Grant Hoyt; four sisters, Mary (Arthur) Edwards, Sr., IL, Louise Hoyt, South Range, WI, Fannie (Terry) Olson, Duluth, MN and Beatrice (Edward) Williams, South Range, WI; two brothers, Jack Hoyt, Bloomington, MN and Fred (Amy) Hoyt, IL; two special nieces, Darlene (Tom) Renquist, Superior, WI and Nancy (Rob) Poynter, Duluth, MN and several other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Lord-Hoyt and Genevieve (Reino) Rantamaki, sister-in-law, Laura Hoyt, brothers, Louis (Lois) Hoyt, Jr., Jim (Rae) Hoyt, Jerry (Sandy) Hoyt and Clifford Hoyt, Sr.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 4, 2011 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 2:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Joel Certa-Werner officiating.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Justin Olson, Thomas Williams, Ed Williams, Rob Poynter, Patrick Edwards and Arthur Edwards, Sr.
