Daniel P. Johnson

Daniel P. Johnson, 57, of Hermantown, MN, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born on May 14, 1960 in Duluth, MN to Donald and Kathleen (Cole) Johnson.

He graduated from Hermantown High School and he attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He started working for the family business D J Fastener Supply Company from 1985 to 2001 and then went on to work at Northern State Supply Company from 2001 to 2015. Daniel married Jillian Shoberg on September 12, 2010 and they celebrated seven years of marriage. He was a member of the Acacia Itasca Masonic Lodge, Superior; AAD Shrine Temple – Clown Unit, Duluth and the Superior Shrine Club, Superior.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Jill; one son, Erik (Fiancée, Marla Hardy) Johnson, Duluth, MN; one daughter, Melissa (Charles) Medecke, Fountain, CO; two grandchildren, Gabe and Caleb; one stepdaughter, Amanda Ayers; two stepsons, Justin and Brandon Schmidt and one step grandson, Jamy Ayers, all of Duluth, MN; his mother, Kathleen Johnson, Hermantown, MN; two brothers, Dave Johnson, Superior, WI and Rich (Lynn) Johnson, Wrenshall, MN; one sister, Lynn (Gerald) Hansen, Cloquet, MN and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Don Johnson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the AAD Shrine Temple, 5152 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, MN.  A Masonic service will begin at 11:00 AM with members of the Acacia Itasca Masonic Lodge #329, Superior with the memorial service to follow with Pastor Dennis Morreim and Lay Pastor Dawn Shoberg officiating.
