Daniel W. Kaluza, 95, resident of Superior, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, Dove Health Care in Superior, with family by his side. He was born in Superior on September 25, 1928, the son of William and Helen (Urban) Kaluza.
Daniel enlisted into the United States Army at age 17 and served overseas as a medic until he was honorably discharged in November of 1947. After returning to the states, Daniel continued his education and received his high school diploma.
He married Roe Ann Peterson on November 27, 1948. Together they raised three children and spent fifty-seven years together before her passing in 2005.
Daniel was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, the American Legion, VFW, and the Elks Club in Superior.
He loved music and dancing, especially swing dancing to big band swing music! Daniel also loved to play tennis and enjoyed bike riding in the warmer months. He was a very intelligent man who earned his nickname “The Wizard” for always being right! Above all, Daniel was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son Michael (Julia) Kaluza, Superior; daughter Sondra (Daniel) Hirssig, Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Alicia Love, Amber (Daniel) Parkhurst, Richard (Barbie) Janowicz, Jennifer (Tim Sheehan) Kaluza, and Ashley Kaluza; great-grandchildren Larissa, Aven, Ryder, Rowan, Griffin, and Willow; great-great granddaughter Lily; sister Doris Mace; brother Jerry Kaluza; loving companion Georgia Charbonneau; daughter-in-law Frannie Kaluza; and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Roe Ann; son Steven Kaluza; sister-in-law Cecil Kaluza; brother-in-law Dick Mace; and his parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ecumen, New Perspective, Dove Health Care, and St. Luke’s Hospice, for the wonderful care they provided Daniel. And to the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home for all their help during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior, and will continue until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
