Daniel David Kolodzeske

Daniel David Kolodzeske, 92, longtime Superior, WI area resident died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Essentia Health, St Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, MN.

He was born on June 1, 1923 in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Joseph and Blanche (Coblewski) Kolodzeske.

Daniel served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Radio Operator, 3rd Class.

He married Doris May Moakler on July 14, 1951 and had celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing in 2007.

Daniel had been employed as a construction electrician since 1950. He worked for various electrical construction contractors, including Benson Electric, Belknap Electric, Bergstrom Electric and retired from Lakehead Electric in 1988. Daniel was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Union #242 for sixty-five years.

Daniel was a strong, independent man. Up until his illness, he was able to have the satisfaction of living in his own home. His greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s achievements and events. He was one of their biggest supporters. Daniel lived a happy and full life. His family finds comfort in knowing that Dad is in Heaven with Mom and our Heavenly Father.

He was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Daniel is survived by one sister, Rose Marie Rohde, Manitowoc, WI; one son and two daughters, Daniel W (Linda Koski) Kolodzeske, Superior, WI, Karen Kolodzeske, Superior, WI and Julie (Daniel) Lindberg, Holmen, WI; daughter-in-law, Julie Peterson, Superior, WI; seven grandchildren, Krissy (Brandt) Charles, Heather Kolodzeske, Emily (Tim) Opacich, Danny St John, Logan (Tori) Lindberg, Jacob Lindberg and Mickayla Lindberg; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Ava, Brett, Hailey, Reid and Harper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 2007, his parents; four sisters, Emily Meyer, Eleanor Wilda, Lucille Coen, and Ruth Marie Kolodzeske all of Manitowoc, WI; two brothers, Alvin Kolodzeske, Anaheim, CA and Roman Kolby, Manitowoc, WI.

The family will be greeting relatives and friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Daniel will be buried with military honors in St Francis Cemetery.
