David B. Almsted

David Bertil Almsted, 74, lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI. He was born in Ashland, WI on October 17, 1949, the son of Bertil and Emily (Hegbloom) Almsted.

He graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing, WI, and then attended vocational school, receiving his auto mechanic certification. Soon after, David returned home and spent most of his years working on the family farm.

David was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI.

In his free time, David enjoyed taking his motorcycle out for rides and fishing in the warmer months and deer hunting in the fall. He especially loved to go bowling and to bingo. He was also an animal lover but was especially fond of cats.

David was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle, and will dearly missed by his sisters, Sharon Johnson, Superior and Paulette Almsted, Burnsville, MN; nephews Rick Hurin, Superior and Robert Hurin, Brooklyn Park, MN; niece Sharrilyn Helgertz; and grand nieces and nephews Willa, Winter, Violet, Jameson, Lydia, and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Per David’s request, no public services will be held.
