David J. Deck

David James Deck, 64, of Poplar, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 5, 2019, with his wife and family at his side. He was born in Duluth, MN, on October 4, 1954, the son of Richard and Ellen (Levanpa) Deck.

He was married to Debbie Minar, the love of his life, for over 43 years. David worked as a furniture refinisher with the Dayton-Hudson Corporation for over 25 years, where he was appreciated for his exceptional work, teaching abilities and great sense of humor. Together David and Debbie built their dream home, where they hunted, fished, snowmobiled, rode trials bikes and ATVs. In the evenings they enjoyed watching wildlife while sitting on their porch. David also loved fixing and tinkering with anything mechanical. Above all he dearly loved being with his family. He was a member of the AMA and a life member of the NRA.

He is survived by his beloved wife Debbie; brothers, Dan (Cindy) and Richard Deck, both of Superior, WI; brother-in-law, Al Minar, Minnetonka, MN; sister-in-law, Cindy Neby, Duluth, MN; nieces, Danielle Deck and Linda LaBarre; nephews, Ryan and Nick Neby and Corey Minar; stepmother, Rose Chaltry-Minar; stepfather, Bernard Kuroski; and many relatives and friends, as well as his black lab and special K-9 companion, Hannah. David is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Mike Deck; father-in-law Allan Minar; mother-in-law Margie Michael; brother-in law David Neby; and his yellow lab Dozer.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 11648 E. County Rd. B, Lake Nebagamon, WI, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Inna Pothireddy as celebrant.
