David J. Denny

David J. Denny, 68, longtime Superior resident, died following a brief illness on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on February 7, 1945 in Superior, WI to Robert M. and Evelyn M. (Herman) Denny, Sr.

He graduated from the former Central High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

David was employed as a Locomotive Engineer for the Soo Line Railroad for forty-three years retiring in 2007. Following his retirement, he worked at Frazier Shipyards.

He married Lucinda “Cindy” R. Zukowski on July 1, 1995 and would have celebrated eighteen years of marriage.

David was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior. He was a member of the Union Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers #494 where he served as Vice Local Chairman. He was also member of the Acacia Itasca Masonic Lodge #349.

David is survived by his wife, Cindy; brother, Robert Denny, Jr., Naples, FL; mother and father-in-law, Lucille and Carl Zukowski, Superior, WI; sister-in-law, Carla (Mike) Waldholm, Proctor, MN and many nieces, nephews and cousins and his canine little buddy Bailey MacDougal.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Time of Remembrance – Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1708 John Avenue, Superior.

A private family burial will be at a later time.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in David’s name to Twin Ports Memorial Blood Center or Concordia Lutheran Church.
