David “Drew” P. Anderson, 58, of Duluth, MN, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born to Elizabeth (Perry) and Ray “Tex” Anderson.
He graduated from St. Louis Park High School and went on to receive his Bachelors and Masters of Arts in Organizational Management and Communications from Concordia University. Drew was a Case Management worker for the Human Development Center and previously worked as the Youth Services Supervisor for AEOA (Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency) for many years where he helped many young people find their way in life.
He married Mary Courage in September 1990 in Duluth, MN and they would have celebrated twenty-nine years of marriage next month. Drew had a special gift of connecting with people. He was a loyal friend and had a magnetic and large personality. He lived his life spreading love and light. He was an avid member of the Lester Park Golf Course Men’s Club. He loved the camaraderie with friends at the golf course and found great enjoyment in playful competition every day there for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and going to Florida with his friends on a yearly trip. Drew loved music and was a wonderful improvisational piano player, playing inspiring tunes every day. In his last few months, he was Divinely inspired to compose a song that he recorded with video (on YouTube) created by his son, Jon Ray, called “Take a Walk in the Pure Light.”
David is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kelly (Nicholas Moulton) Ryberg, Minneapolis, MN; one son, Jon Ray Anderson, Chengdu, China; two grandchildren, Locke and August Moulton; one sister, Kay (Mark) Eidem, Maple Grove, MN; niece and nephew Haley and Taylor Eidem, Nashville, TN and mother-in-law, Jeanne Cumming, Duluth, MN.
A Celebration of Life, including music and stories will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at Minnesota Point Rec Beach House (Park Point) in Duluth, MN.
The family would like to thank the attending emergency room doctors (Dr. Dan Freeman and Dr. Eric Kirchner) and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital, and Mayo Clinic Rochester doctors, especially Drs. Katharine and Dan Price and team.
