David H. Engen

David H. Engen, 63, died Friday, April 23, 2010. He was born on February 16, 1947 in Duluth, MN to Hoyt and Lois (Sundstrom) Engen.
He was employed as a bus driver for the Superior School District for twenty years, retiring in October of 2009.
He served his country in the United States Army for three years, in which one was stationed in Viet Nam as a Military Policeman.
David married his wife, Arlene Anderson on July 31, 1971 in Port Wing, WI and celebrated thirty-eight years of marriage.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Superior Community Band where he played the trumpet.
David’s greatest joy was his family and spending time at his cabin at East Bass Lake in Cotton, MN. He enjoyed playing his trumpet on the lake and always at family and friend’s birthdays. He enjoyed traveling with his family, bike rides and walking with his wife Arlene.
In addition to his wife Arlene, David is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Brian) Seol, San Diego, CA, Jamie Engen, Nashville, TN; one grandson;, Carsen Seol, San Diego, CA; his mother, Lois Engen, Superior, WI; two brothers, John (Cheryl) Engen, Alborn, MN, Jeff (Sue) Engen, Peoria, AZ; one sister, Audrey (Mark) Senarighi, Cloquet, MN; his father and mother-in-law, Floyd “Bing” and Viola Anderson, Port Wing, WI; one sister-in-law, Betty (Tom) Tapani, Chisago City, MN; special friends, Ray and Bev Boggess, Superior and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his father Hoyt and two brothers, Gregory and James.
David had a special gift for always making people smile and laugh. He was a very easy going and special man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 1, 2010 until the 12 Noon Funeral Service at Bethel Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary Garnatz will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
