David John Jones

David John Jones, 69, Superior resident, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on February 22, 1941 in Madison, WI to Judge David Owen and Ora (Campbell) Jones.

He graduated from Mineral Point High School and Wayland Prepatory School in Beaver Dam. He also attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI and UW-Superior.

He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Garcia during the Vietnam conflict.

On April 25, 1964 he married Margaret Peters in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and would have celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.

David worked as an account manager for Borgert Products in St. Joseph, MN for many years.

He attended Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan and basketball coach in Superior and Milwaukee, WI. David was a fan of all sports but especially was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger sports. He was a talented musician and singer and was a member of the Blue Jacket Choir in the Navy and a member of various voice ensembles.
David also was an avid outdoorsman and loved Northern, WI and Lake Superior.

David is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, David Owen (Sara) Jones, St. Paul, MN and Sean Patrick (Jennifer) Jones, Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Meghan Kahley, Victoria Fiona, Penelope Olwen and Mina Elise; sister, Mary Jane Jones-Smyth and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Megan Ayn Jones.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, January 19, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Dodgeville and continue until the 12:30 PM, Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be East Side Cemetery, Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in David’s name to St. Luke’s Hospice Unit.
