David M. Nelson, 62, lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly, Thursday, January 2, 2020 at his home in Lake Nebagamon, WI. He was born in Superior, WI, October 9, 1957 the son of Marvin and Vivian (Bjork) Nelson.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1976 and went on to earn his degree in Auto Mechanics from WITC in Superior, and as an Auto Body Technician from WITC in Rice Lake, WI.
Dave worked as an auto technician for the City of Superior for thirty-six years, and was a Labor Union Affiliate with the City of Superior Mechanics. In his free time, Dave was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, deer hunting, playing softball and bowling. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, classic cars, especially his 1956 Chevy, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his sisters, Sherry Kenville, Superior, WI, Judy Estridge, Wylie, TX, Sandy (Terry) Essen, Solon Springs, WI, and Terri (Brad) Nelson, Lake Nebagamon, WI; brothers, Bob Nelson, Superior, WI, and Mike (Carol) Nelson, South Range, WI; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and step-children, Leone, Robert, Jana, Paula, Gerald, and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and step-daughter, Julia.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM. Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 th Street, Superior, WI, with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 6:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Ed Bozinski, Joe Pederson, Tom Keeler, Freeman Welter, Don Miller and John Deterling.
Additional services will be held later this year.
