David Vern Larson

February 7, 1957 — July 20, 2013

David Vern Larson, 56, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 7, 1957 to Junior Nels and Barbara (Jones) Larson. David graduated from High School in Winter, Wisconsin.

He married Emily Anne Wiley on January 12, 1980 in Zion Lutheran Church in Winter, WI and had recently celebrated thirty-three years of marriage.

David served his country in the United States Navy and the Merchant Marines.

David worked as a First mate on several different boats and studied and received a Radio Broadcast Journalism and received his Masters License. He was also a certified meat Cutter.
He was employed as a First Mate by Pierre Marquette Shipping.

David was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and A.M.O. American Maritime Officers.

He loved camping, storytelling, telling Jokes, reading and being on the water. He was also a Greenbay Packer Fan and helped with Ruby’s Pantry.

David is survived by his wife, Emily Larson, Superior, WI, two daughters, Rachael (Jeremy) Lackner, Superior, WI, and Carolyn (Christopher) Keturi, Duluth, MN, three grandchildren, Isla, Noah and Julia, four step grandchildren, one sister, Diana (Randy) Pecore, Ridgeland, WI, three brothers, Daniel Larson, Holland Michigan, Charles (Iris) Larson, Arizona, Floyd (Vanessa) Larson, Superior, WI, several nieces and nephews and special Pets, Bluesy and Buster.

David was preceded in death by his parents and one niece Andrea Pecore.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Superior and will continue until the 11:30 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Patrick Ziems, officiating.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Pat Carlson, Danny Larson, Floyd Larson, Chuck Larson, Randy Pecore, Mark Ulvi and Dale Rochon.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
