Dean John Pyykola, 66, longtime Oulu area resident passed away peacefully, Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Hospice, Duluth, Minnesota.
He was born April 8, 1951 in Ashland, Wisconsin the son of Aarne and Elsie (Maki) Pyykola who were lifelong residents of Oulu.
He graduated from South Shore High School in 1969 and attended UWS and Control Data School in the Twin Cities area.
He was employed by Duluth News Tribune for over thirty years as an IT Specialist.
Dean was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI; Life long member of NRA. Dean was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish and reload his own ammunition. Dean also loved woodworking, reading and four wheeling. Dean also loved spending time at his hunting property in Oulu.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of 44 years; one son, Treg Aarne Pyykola, Iron River, WI; two brothers, Clyde (Sally) Pyykola, Grand View, WI and Ryan (Francine) Pyykola, Oulu, WI.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Ryan Pyykola in 2000 and his parents.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI and continue until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service with Pastor Scott Stai officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Glade Cemetery, Oulu, WI.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Treg, Clyde and Ryan Pyykola, Micah Goetsch, Randy Johnson and Leo Naumann.
The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
