Delmar "Papa" E. Ford

Delmar “Papa” E. Ford, , 54, Superior resident, died peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on July 13, 1961 in Superior, WI to Delmar and Joan (Deloney) Ford, Sr.

Delmar served his country in the United States Army.

He was loyally employed as one of the best heavy equipment operators for Alliance Steel Construction for many years.

His main passion in life was family! He was a good father, excellent brother, loving son and extraordinary grandfather to say the least. He touched lives beyond belief and will be remembered and honored always and forever! Hoorah!

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping especially with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Delmar is survived by three children, Shane (Kelly) Ford, Samantha Topping and Allison Ford; three stepchildren, Chris (Sarah) Zacher, Tahnee Topping and Danny Garvin; multiple grandbabies; his mother, Joan Erickson, Superior, WI; two sisters, Sherry (John) Pallies, and Tracy (Corey Bascom, “Del’s best friend”) Saari, both of Solon Springs, WI; one brother, Dane (Penny) Ford, Superior, WI, loving lifelong friend, Vivian Topping, Duluth, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Delmar E. Ford, Sr. and a brother Darrell Ford.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Eagle’s Club in Superior.
