DeLois “Red” Eleanor Gucinski, 90, resident of Barnes, WI and Llano, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with her loving husband and family by her side. She was born on February 5, 1933, in Fessenden, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Pranke) Meyers.
Her family relocated to the North End of Superior, WI and she graduated from the former Central High School in the class of 1951.
DeLois was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerald “Jod” Gucinski on February 2, 1952, at the former St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Superior. They were married for over 71 years and together they raised two sons. DeLois enjoyed her years spent as a loving homemaker.
Red enjoyed golf, bowling and was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, so much that she was inducted as a member of the Packers’ Fan Hall of Fame. She and Jod were season ticket holders for 50 years, as well as owner/shareholders of the Packers. Red was an avid fan of the Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers Football as well. In her younger years, she was the Head Majorette for the VFW Woman’s Drum and Bugle Corps. Over the years, Red and Jod shared countless memorable motorhome trips to Green Bay and loved to travel in the winter, finally landing in Llano, Texas, where together they golfed nearly every day. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald “Jod”; sons Mike (Laurie) Gucinski and Mark Gucinski; grandchildren, Lori (Hank) Wakefield, Eric (Becky) Gucinski, Paul (Karen) Gucinski, Michelle Gucinski, Kylie (Brian) Swen, and Casey (Marie) Christenson; great-grandchildren David, Miranda, and Caleb Wakefield, Easton and Rayna Gucinski, Tyler and Lila Gucinski, Zander Sislo, Hanna Gucinski, and Evan and Carter Swen; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Red is preceded in death by her grandson, David Gucinski; sisters Janet, Iona, and Marion “Mickey”; and her parents.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Gene Karwoski of St. Luke’s and his successor Dr. Zachary Lundstrom, along with the staff at VitaCare assisted living in Proctor, MN and St. Croix Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they all provided DeLois.
