Delores E. Kallberg

Delores Kallberg, 95, of Superior WI, passed away peacefully, Sunday January 5, 2025. She was born January 26, 1929, in Virginia, MN to Harold Stanley and Birdie (Meek) Tingstad.

Delores grew up in Duluth and graduated from Stanbrook Hall, St Scholastica in 1946.  On April 18, 1952, she married Donald Kallberg at the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle. They moved to Alabama where Donald was stationed with the Air Force during the Korean War. They later moved to Duluth, then near Madison WI, and then near Superior in 1966. They raised 6 children and provided a loving Christian home. Delores graduated Suma Cum Laude from UWS, with a BA in German, and later an MA in Education. She also earned an LPN degree from ITC in Superior, WI.

Delores was a true woman of God, having accepted Jesus as her Savior during the Oral Robert’s meetings in Duluth in the late 1940’s. She and Donald were members of the Hawthorne Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible Studies, and provided years of special music. She was a professional vocalist with an expressive soprano voice, following in the tradition of her mother Birdie, who was an Opera singer with the Chicago Opera years ago. Delores gave piano and voice lessons out of her home for many years, also following in the footsteps of her Mother. Delores continued singing publicly well into her 80’s. She worked at Middle River Health facility making many friends over the years.

Delores did everything with excellence: sewing, baking, writing, and telling stories. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flowers. She loved her dogs and raised many puppies! Those who knew her will miss her love, prayers, and support.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2020, and her dear sister, Helen Buchanan, in 2018.

She is survived by her six children, Donald Samuel (Beth), Susan (Brad) Moore-Johnson, Daniel, David (Bonnie), Joel (Esther), and Judy (Daryl) Kallberg-Pitcher and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Hawthorne Assembly Church, 6366 Cty. Road E in Poplar, WI, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM with Rev. Joel Kallberg officiating.
