Delores Virginia Craker, 82, longtime Superior resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Superior Rehab and Nursing Center after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Delores “Lola” was born in Superior on December 21, 1932 to Matt and Lillian (Holm) Saari. Her early years were spent in Cromwell, MN, where her parents owned and operated the 4 Corner Store. Her family then moved to Superior where she attended local schools. After high school, Delores married her true love, Sharon M. Craker, on February 9, 1951.
Over the years, Delores worked in retail and was involved with a number of clubs and organizations. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband as well as traveling abroad with the Sweet Adelines (international organization of singing women). Delores was an avid reader and was rarely without a home, garden, or craft project in the works. Her greatest accomplishment has been being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sharon, in 2007; son-in-law, John Alexsevich; parents-in-law, Clarice and Howard King and Marvin and Edith Craker; and brother-in-law, Sandy Bernardo.
She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Jim) Peck and Sheri Alexsevich, both of Superior, WI; son, Scott (Nancy) Craker, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Craker, Justin (Carly) Craker, Jamie (Chris) Kleist, Carlie (Ben) LaLone, Alexandra Alexsevich, and Dorie (Greg) Aker; four great-grandsons, nine great-granddaughters, and another bundle of joy on the way; sisters-in-law, Jean Bernardo, Superior, WI and Patricia Richards, Michigan; brothers-in-law, William (Karin) King, Lake Nebagamon, WI and Dennis King, Superior, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Delores will be lovingly missed by family and friends and remembered most for her quick wit and vivacious personality.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 11 a.m. memorial service with Rev. Will Mowchan from Pilgrim Lutheran Church officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Superior Rehab and Nursing Center for the exceptional care, compassion, and support given to Delores during her illness.
If friends and family should desire, memorials may be given to The Salvation Army or the Humane Society of Douglas County.
