Delores Scharhag

Delores Scharhag, 89, Superior, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on May 29, 1926 in Superior to Andrew and Anna Herubin.

Delores graduated from Superior State Teacher’s College in 1946. Her first teaching job was in Shell Lake, WI where she met and married Walter Scharhag in 1947 and were married for 49 years before he passed away in April 1997.

Following their marriage they moved to Superior where Delores continued her teaching career in the Superior School District. She taught for a total of 30 years before retiring in 1987.

She went on to further her education by receiving her Master’s Degree in Education from UWS.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a charter member and past president of the St. Francis Travelers which later became the Old Town Travelers. She was also a member of the Wisconsin State Math Council. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled in many leagues at the Waletzko Bowling Lanes in Allouez.

Delores is survived by one son, Gary Scharhag, Pike Lake, MN; one brother, Eugene Herubin, Menasha, WI; one sister, Loretta Roth, La Crescent, MN; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including several friends that are like family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; one sister, Rosemary Irion and her parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
