Denise M Magdzas

June 2, 1964 — March 24, 2017

Denise Mary Magdzas, a lifelong Superior resident, died suddenly on March 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. If you asked her age, Denise would tell you she was 25 although she was actually 52 years old at the time of her passing. She was born in Superior on June 2, 1964, the daughter of Donald J. and Doris M. (Franks) Magdzas.

Denise was born with a congenital heart defect and was the March of Dimes poster child in 1966. She attended the Weisberg Center at Cooper School in Billing Park and briefly worked at the Challenge Center.

Denise cherished her family and was instrumental in organizing family gatherings and parties. She loved nothing more than sharing a laugh with or teasing her many family members. Denise made ribbon craft decorations and it made her so happy to gift them to her family. Animals were Denise’s passion, especially cats. Over her lifetime, she had many pets and loved each one dearly. Her cats Molly and Harry already feel her absence and miss her presence at home.

Television was a big part of Denise’s life. She enjoyed watching Dancing With The Stars, the Golden Girls, Hallmark movies, the Bulldogs Hockey games, and especially the WDIO Channel 10/13 News. She considered the WDIO news team her friends and enjoyed the antics of Justin Liles, in particular. Some of her prized possessions were autographed photos of the news team.

Denise was proceeded in death by her father, Donald J. Magdzas; a nephew, Matthew M. Magdzas and his daughters Lila and Annah Magdzas; maternal grandparents, Elsie and Curly Franks; and paternal grandparents, Peter and Lucille Magdzas.

She is survived by her mother Doris Magdzas (Roger Nelson) of Superior, WI; two Sisters, Diane (Jeff) Fitzgerald, Superior, WI and Doreen (Gary) Peterson, South Range, WI; four brothers, Dennis (Terri) Magdzas, Duluth, MN, Donald (Lauri) Magdzas, Foxboro, WI, Doug (Darla) Magdzas, Superior, WI, and Darrell (Laura) Magdzas, Superior, WI. Denise was also loved and is survived by her nieces and nephews, Derek and Travis Magdzas, Eric Goeppinger; Alex and Andrew Fitzgerald; Megan Peterson, Macey Magdzas, and Macey Merling; Jacob and Zachary Magdzas, Danielle, Sara, and Drew Magdzas; a great nephew Memphis Magdzas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Denise will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
