Dennis “Denny” A. Gunderson, 66, lifelong Superior area resident died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his residence in South Range with his family at his side.
He was born in Superior on September 18, 1944, the son of Luverne and Margaret (Mattheisen) Gunderson.
Dennis graduated from the former East High School in Superior.
He married Jeanne Anecki in Superior on September 21, 2002 and would have celebrated nine years of marriage this month.
He was employed by St. Mary’s Essentia Health Hospital, formerly Superior Memorial Hospital for over thirty-eight years retiring as Chief Engineer.
Dennis was a member of the Superior Army National Guard for six years.
Denny was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved motorcycling; he loved maple syruping and the outdoors. He also loved wildlife and enjoyed naming the bears that visited around his home. Denny also enjoyed wood finishing.
He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Superior and was a former member of the Moose Club.
Denny is survived by his wife, Jeanne Gunderson; two sons, Scott (Gayla) Gunderson, stationed with the military in the Middle East and Ryan (Amanda) Gunderson, South Carolina; one daughter, Ann (Dan) Hanon, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Alex, Reagan, Grant, Sydney, Jack, Ava, Amelia and Scott; one brother, Ron (Luci) Gunderson, Superior; and two nieces, Sheila Gunderson and Rhonda Tsuda.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Patrick Ziems officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
