Dennis G. Detarr

Dennis G. DeTarr, 81, resident of Superior, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in his home. He was born in Orange County, CA on May 16, 1943, the son of Gayle and Rhea (Haeflei) DeTarr.

Dennis grew up in California and graduated high school there. After moving to the area, he worked as a salesman for Jake’s Tire in Duluth, MN for many years.

He was united in marriage to Laurie Johnson on September 21, 1988. They recently celebrated thirty-six years together before his passing.

Dennis was an avid golfer and loved fishing and reading. He was also an avid and faithful fan of the Dodgers baseball team. Watching them win the World Series was one of his favorite memories. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be forever missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Laurie; daughter Andrea (Scot) Astor, Arizona; stepdaughter Charity (Wade) Colby, Superior; granddaughters Jessica (Aaron) Dmitrenkos and Rachel Stevenson; step grandchildren Chase and Faith Colby; and great-granddaughter Harper.

Dennis is preceded in death by his mom, Rhea Haeflei.

A Celebration of Dennis’s Life and Time of Remembrance will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Ace’s on 29th, 2827 Oakes Ave in Superior.
