Diane L. Nelson, 79, Superior, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Francis Home in the Park.
She was born on March 8, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to Arnold and Florence (Alexson) Aho.
Diane was employed in the sales department at Dayton’s Department Store and she won the title of Dayton’s Queen and she was also crowned Queen of the Lakes in 1956.
She had also been employed at many of the family owned restaurants.
She loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with her dogs. She was an excellent cook and was the family historian. If someone had a birthday, they could expect a birthday card every year.
Diane is survived by one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Fedorowicz, Superior; one brother, Duane (Loan) Aho, Salem, MA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Nelson on November 10, 2002; her parents; a brother David Aho and an infant sister, Joyce Aho.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and will continue until the 6:00 PM Funeral Service on Monday, June 9, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, with Chaplain Ron Henely of Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice, officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
