Dick A. Dunning, 69, lifelong Superior resident, died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Superior, October 13, 1950, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Luckenbill) Dunning.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School, class of 1969, and worked for MJP Management for over thirty years before his retirement. Prior to that he was a Great Lakes Seaman and he loved Lake Superior.
Dick was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Superior. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and a huge family youth supporter. He loved yard work and landscaping and loved his Dodge Ram truck. He will forever be remembered as the friendly neighbor that he was, always willing to lend a helping hand with lawn care, or shoveling wherever he was needed.
He is survived by his daughters, Emily (Marc Eilers) Dunning, Phoenix, AZ, and Rose (Kris) Ciocarilli, Superior, WI; sons, Ben (Kelly) Dunning, Littleton, CO, and Alex Dunning, Lakewood, CO; former wife and mother of his children, Paula Dunning; grandsons, Trenton and Colton Dunning; sister, Kay (Paul) Freer, Superior, WI; brothers, Gary (Alana) Dunning, Superior, WI and Bruce Dunning, Ft. Meyers, FL; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved K-9 companion, Stout.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Center, 2022 E 2 nd Street, Superior, WI, with Pastor Victor St. George officiating.
Private inurnment with take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
