Don Allen Treakle, 71, longtime resident of Superior, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 surrounded by his family at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Duluth, MN July 11, 1947, the son of Chuck and Anne (Peterson) Brown.
Don graduated from Central High School in Superior in 1965. He went on to serve his country honorably for twelve years in the United States Army. He later worked as a truck driver for many years, and provided local transportation services, including medical transport.
Don was united in marriage to Jane Wester on June 24, 2006 at Bayside Baptist Church in Superior, and they celebrated twelve years of marriage before his passing.
He was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Superior.
Don loved to cook and enjoyed watching westerns and listening to southern gospel music, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He also generously shared his time as a hospice volunteer.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane, Superior; daughter, Wendy (Dan) Bender; sons, Mark ( Stephanie) Treakle and Todd (Julie) Treakle; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; former wife and mother of his children, Lela Treakle; sisters-in-law, Grace (Denis) Christianson, and Mary (Joel) Wurl; sister, Violet Tuura; brother, Tom (Bertha) Treakle; and brother-in-law, Jody (Terry) Tetzlaff.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mel; and nephew, Daniel Converse.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at United Presbyterian Church, 229 N. 28 th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 2:00 PM Memorial Service with Rev. Robert Goodin officiating. Following the service, military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
