Donald R. Jamison, a resident of Lake Nebagamon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home with family by his side. Don was born in Hawthorne, WI on April 27, 1943, the son of Ross and Delores (Lorentzen) Jamison. He was united in marriage to Marcia Leffel on December 19, 1964. They recently celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
Don graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI in the class of 1961. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, earning his Bachelor's degree in biology, and went onto obtain a Master's in education. Don began his teaching career in Milwaukee Public Schools where he spent 38 years before retiring and moving back north to Lake Nebagamon. He then worked as a substitute teacher for 16 more years, taking various jobs at Superior High School.
Don's life gave evidence of his faith in the Lord. After moving to Lake Nebagamon, Don was a faithful member of Mission Covenant Church in Poplar and at one time served as chairman on the Elder Board and participated in many other ministry areas. While in Milwaukee, he and his wife served as volunteer youth leaders for First Alliance Church (CMA) in Milwaukee. Many of the teens who attended went on to Christian service as missionaries, pastors, and church workers in various ministries and have stayed in contact with Maria and Don to this day.
He was also active on the board of the Douglas County Republican Party and was an avid trout fisherman on the Brule River.
Don was a wonderful husband, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed by his wife, Marcia; brothers Elwyn (Marilyn) Jamison of Texas and David Jamison, Rochester, MN; brothers-in-law Scott (Lisa) Leffel, Hawthorne, WI and Jon (Lorraine) Leffel, Fredericksburg, VA, Jeff (Maxine) Leffel, Hawthorne, WI; sister-in-law Myrna (Milt) Holmquist, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Cheryl (Bruce) Moder, Superior, WI, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers James, Ross (Chuck), Carl, and Steven Jamison.
