Donald W. Nummi

Donald W. Nummi, 77, longtime Superior resident, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice Unit in Duluth with his wife by his side.

He was born on May 29, 1935 in Superior, WI to Iver and Mae (Heikkinen) Nummi.

Donald graduated from Central High School in 1953.
He served his country in the United States Army.

He married Nancy Jarvi on June 3, 1961 in Duluth, MN and just celebrated fifty-one years of marriage.

He was employed as an installer/technician for AT & T for many years.

Donald was a life member of the Superior Elks Lodge #403. He also was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Communication Workers of America.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Don was mechanically inclined. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughters, Lauren and Jennifer. They were the apple of his eye.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy; son Don (Tina) Nummi, Jr., Superior; grandchildren Lauren and Jennifer Nummi; brother, Richard I. (Diane) Nummi, St. Petersburg, FL and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harold Nummi.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
