Donna Lee Erkkila

Donna Lee Erkkila formerly of Maple, WI entered into eternal life on May 3, 2010 at Birdsong Adult Family Home in Kent, Washington.

Donna was born Sept. 27, 1940 to Emil and Caryl (Olson) Johnson in Superior, WI. She was primarily raised by her aunt and uncle, Lempi and Gabriel Maki.

She graduated from Duluth Central high school in 1958 and married James Erkkila on Oct. 8, 1960. They then settled in Maple, WI where she lived until sustaining a near death car accident in July of 2003.

Donna has resided in Washington State since the accident.

She was a hard worker, and has held jobs in bookkeeping, cooking, and personal care work to name a few over the years. She had a gentle and giving nature.

Donna is survived by one son Brian (Christina) Erkkila of Maple, two daughters Kimberly (Erik) Erkkila-Miller of Renton, WA, Amy (Billy) Siegel of Eau Claire, WI, six grandchildren, Casey and Nathan Miller, Kelly and Jaryd Erkkila, and McKayla and Landon Siegel, one sister, Pauline (Neil) Hubbell of Canyon Lake, TX, and several brothers and sisters in-law.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Erkkila, her father, Emil Johnson, an infant daughter, Tracey Erkkila, and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, May 16, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service Monday, May 17, 2010 at Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, WI with Pastor Darrell Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Maple.
