Donna C. Sorenson

Donna C. Sorenson, 89, longtime resident of South Range, WI, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior. She was born in Chicago, IL on February 1, 1934, grew up in Hegewisch, IL and had been a South Range resident since 1952.

She attended Henry Clay Elementary School in Hegewisch & graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in Lansing, Illinois.

Donna married Konrad Sorenson on October 4, 1952, and they celebrated fifty-two years together before his passing on October 23, 2004.

She was a former member of Lebanon Lutheran Church in Hegewisch, IL & Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior and a part of Jobs Daughters.  Donna loved big, chubby cats and music. Some of her fondest memories were the ones she made with her family on their farm in South Range. She will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew her.

Donna is survived by her five children, Robert (late Merrie Bear) Sorenson, Herbster, WI; Linda Letourneau, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Konrad “Pete” Sorenson, South Range; Donna (Matt) Gidley, Green Bay, WI; and Yvonne (Mike Haroldson) Sorenson, Milltown, WI, her eight grandchildren; Nichole, Kelsey, Chris, Allie, Lauren, Soren, Alexander, & Jakob, and five great-grandchildren; Owen, Annika, Kellen, Cora, & Lou.  She is also survived by her dear friend of many years, Rosie Perala.

In addition to her husband, Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Chris & Angeline Nielsen; daughter-in-law Merrie Bear; her loving dogs Prince and Little Prince; and cats Dumpling & Fluffy.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Twin Ports Health Memory Care Unit for the love and care they provided their mom and grandma.  The family also wishes to thank St. Luke’s Hospice.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023.
