Dorance Merle Jordahl

Dorance Merle Jordahl, 83, longtime Duluth resident, passed away peacefully, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born on April 30, 1932 in Rake, IA to George Harry and Leota (Lamoreux) Jordahl.

He graduated from UMD in 1955. While attending school, he met his wife Marie Luczak. On December 18, 2016, they celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.

He was extremely proud of his family and his family heritage and was a caring big brother for his sisters and brothers.

Dorance is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Dorance II, Duluth, MN and Darrin (Sharon), Bismarck, ND; two granddaughters, Angela and Alyssa; one step-grandson, Josh; two great-grandchildren, Alli and Jack; two brothers, Ronald Jordahl, Monroe, NC and Loren Jordahl, Leland, IA; two sisters, Clarice Brown, Leland, IA and Dorothy Blom, Albert Lea, MN. He was a friend of Bill W. for over forty-two years.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1325 N. 45th Avenue East in Duluth and continue until the 12:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Laura Berdahl officiating.

Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery in Hermantown, MN. Military honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorance’s name to the donor’s choice.
