Doris K. Harrington, 94, formerly of East End of Superior, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Golden Living in Superior. She was born on March 8, 1921 in Superior (Allouez), WI to Samuel and Helen (Brown) Stichman.
Doris graduated from the former East High School in 1938.
Doris was employed as a clerk for the Great Northern/Burlington Railroad for over ten years. She was also a secretary for Wallin Brothers of Duluth.
Doris married John Harrington in Norfolk, VA when Jack was on leave on July 3, 1944 and they celebrated forty-five years of marriage before his passing in January of 1990.
She was a member of the Ladies Elks Club #403 and the BN Employees Auxiliary.
She loved playing cards, especially bridge and other card games with her friends.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Holly (Mike) McLean, Superior, WI and Kathleen (Steve) Osterhaus, Sister Bay, WI; four grandchildren, Nicole, Kelly, Theresa and Kristine; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, May Erickson, Helen Stichman and Geraldine Grein, brothers, Sam Jr., Robert and Gerald Stichman, an infant great – granddaughter, Zoey and nephew, William Grein, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Golden Living Center for the wonderful care they gave to Doris. They went above and beyond the call of duty.
