Dorothy Fortin, 100, of Superior passed away peacefully Friday, October 15, 2021, in her home, Superior, WI. Dorothy was born on October 4, 1921 in Superior, WI to John and Glady’s (Morrisette) Miller.
She was united in marriage to Wilfred Fortin, July 11, 1942, and they celebrated 34 years of marriage before his passing in 1976.
Dorothy was a long-time active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She loved her church and her Lord. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and the occasional trip to the casino. Dorothy was musically talented. She loved to yodel, sing, play guitar, and play the piano. She shared and passed this gift of music on to her sons Richard and James, often performing with their band "The DelRays." Dorothy had incredible hospitality. She cherished the moments spent together sharing meals, music, and company with her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Richard (Joanie Johnson) Fortin and James (Jacquelyn) Fortin, all of Superior, WI; daughter, Gladys (Eldon) Galyen, Carlton, MN; grandchildren, Troy (Jill) Fortin, Michelle (Dave Long) Fortin, of New Jersey, Brittney (Andy) Hacker, Jean (Marsha) Powell, Brian (Hannah) Powell, Nicholas (Abby Aiken) Cupler, Tanner Fortin, and Rianna Fortin; great-grandchildren, Ellexis Fortin, Gavin Doyle, and Brandon, Bradley, and Gregory Korth; and her sister, Beverly Johnson, of California; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilfred Fortin; son, William Fortin; her parents; brothers, Bart Miller, Fred Miller, Charlie Miller, Edward Miller and Albert Miller, Sr.; and sisters, Grace DeBrock and Geraldine Keeler.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Troy Fortin, Nicholas Cupler, Tanner Fortin, Jan Miller, Bob Rich, and Don Herrick.
