Dorothy M. Gott

Dorothy M. Gott, 82, longtime Superior resident, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.
She was born on July 13, 1930 in Superior, WI to William and Elizabeth (Dewberry) Jantzen.

She was a 1948 graduate of the former Central High School and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior receiving her Master of Arts Degree in Education.
Dorothy was an Assistant Professor in the English Department at UWS for twenty-one years retiring in 1998. Previously she taught at the former Superior Vocational School and at the Cathedral School.

She married George Gott on September 20, 1965 and celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.

Dorothy was a longtime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She also was a member of P.L.C.W. – Pilgrim Lutheran Church Women, Superior Friends of the Library, Martha Circle and the Parkinson’s Foundation.

She loved “antiquing” - refinishing old furniture, needlepoint, genealogy, history, reading, and she will be remembered as a good cook. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially spending her summers at the cabin in Lake Nebagamon, gardening and planting flowers.

Dorothy is survived by her husband George, Superior, WI; three daughters, Mary (Kenneth) Musselman, West Lafayette, IN, Nancy (Steven) Andrews, Duluth, MN and Patricia (Timothy Ziegenhagen) Gott, Stevens Point, WI; one sister, Betty (Richard) Lidberg, Esko, MN; five grandchildren, Pamela (Christian) Colby, Petoskey, MI, Lea (Josh) Loveless, Morton, IL, Mary (Jason) Berg, Minnetonka, MN, Katie and Michael Andrews, both of Duluth, MN; four great-grandchildren, Kiarra and Cora Loveless, Henry Colby and Anna Berg and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbert M. Tatge, sister Margaret Embree, brother William Jantzen and her parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 820 Belknap Street, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor William Mowchan officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
