Dorothy M. Hoven

Dorothy M. Hoven, 98, Superior, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on April 12, 1913 in Karlocke, MI to Harvey and Ovidia (Vinje) Sandberg.

Dorothy was employed as a teacher in the School District of Superior for many years, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia Lutheran Church Women, Delta Kappa Gama, the Retired Teachers Association and she enjoyed volunteering at the Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital of Superior.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Harvey (Rosemary Capocci) Hoven, Superior; one daughter, Mary (Colyn) Carter, Eagle River, WI; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Kern, Superior; a brother, Howard (Ollie) Sandberg, Superior, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer on June 3, 2003; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Hoven; a grandson, Scott Carter, her parents and two sisters, Irene Leksell and Bernice Christensen and a brother, John Sandberg.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:30 AM Funeral Service on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.


Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
