Dorothy L. Van Camp

Dorothy L. Van Camp, 80, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Francis Home in the Park, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 6, 1932 in Butternut, WI to Louis and Mary (Rank) Linsmeyer and had lived in the Wentworth/Amnicon area for most of her life.

She had been employed as the manager of the Wentworth Senior Citizen Center. She volunteered for RSVP for over twenty years where she served on the advisory board.

Dorothy was active in Amnicon Town government, holding the clerk and treasurer positions for many years and she also served on the Amnicon Senior Board. She was also a local Boy Scout den mother while her sons were in Scouts.

Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Wentworth Senior Citizen’s Center. She enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, flower gardening, the Green BayPackers, and spending time with family and friends, especially her two grandsons.

She is survived by two sons, Edward M. (Dawn) Van Camp, Poplar, WI, Steve Van Camp, Cascade, WI; two grandsons, Wyatt and Cody Van Camp; one sister, Mary (Dennis) Sherwinski, Jackson, WI; two brothers, Louis (Barb) Linsmeyer, Pembine, WI, Jerry (Lucy) Linsmeyer, Solon Springs, WI and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J.; her parents; a sister Lorraine Jablonsky and a daughter-in-law, Wendy Van Camp.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2013 and continue until the 11:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.


Pallbearers for the service will be Don Gustafson, Stan Hildebrandt, Wayne Sherwinski, Joey Van Camp, Jeff Van Camp and Bob Newberg.

Dorothy’s grandsons, Wyatt and Cody Van Camp will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will be in Poplar Cemetery.
