Douglas Botten, Sr., 87, Superior resident, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on January 21, 1929 in Superior, WI to Peter and Hannah (Johnson) Botten.
Douglas was the owner/operator of Botten’s Green Acres Golf Course in Lake Nebagamon from 1975 to 1982. He also was a self-employed plumber for many years.
Douglas is survived by four daughters, Louanne (Mick) Budnick and Laureen Botten, both of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Lynn (John) Skandel, Barnes, WI and Callie Salveson, Lake Nebagamon, WI; three sons, Douglas (Debbie) Botten, Jr., Silsbee, TX, Bradley (Jody) Botten, Lake Nebagamon, WI and Orville (Amy) Botten, Poplar, WI; ten grandchildren, Paulette (John) Copp, Deanna (Ryan) Nelson, Jessica (Dustin) Smith, Derek (Allie) Botten, Tyrel (Carly) Botten, Orrin Botten, Jared (Erin) Botten, Hilary (Andy) Helenius, Hayley Botten, Brett Botten and Brittany Botten and eleven great-grandchildren, Nate and Kyle Copp, AnnaMae and Landry Smith, Isabel Nelson, Lorali, Letty, Ellie and Devyn Botten and Wyatt and Marshall Helenius.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn in 2009 and ten brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Graceland Cemetery, Superior with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating.
A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held at 1:00 PM at Botten’s Green Acres Golf Course in Lake Nebagamon.
