Douglas Scott Lisdahl (63), lifelong Superior resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, in Duluth, MN. He was born to Donald Lisdahl, Sr. and Nancy (Nault) Lisdahl on March 22, 1960 in Duluth, MN.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1978 and graduated honor man of his platoon. He went to Camp Pendleton for duty as an 0811 artillery member at 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
Doug was known as an avid sports and outdoorsman. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and hunting. Taking his boat on the Nemadji River fishing or riding his 4-wheeler were his most recent hobbies. He also loved ice fishing and traveling up to Lake of the Woods multiple times a year. Doug loved watching sports. He was a lifelong Vikings and Brewers fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR. He loved spending time with his family. He was an amazing cook, especially when it came to grilling. He was a much-loved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
Among various employments, he also worked as a bartender in several establishments in Superior, developing many friendships along the way. Doug enjoyed socializing with those he met and will be missed by many.
Doug is survived by his mother Nancy; three girls Jamie (Kyle) Bates, Ashley (Brad) Ford, and Jessica Lisdahl (Jeff Goettl); grandchildren Carter, Zander, Stevie, Abby, and Makaylin; siblings Donald Lisdahl Jr., Dale (Vicki) Lisdahl, Darrell (Laura) Lisdahl, Vicki (Jeff) Olson, Brian Lisdahl, and Jennifer (Shawn) Christianson; mother-in-law Nancy Holt and family; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Donald Lisdahl, Sr.
Doug’s girls would like to thank Dr. Soni and the Cardiology team for working so hard to try to save their Dad’s life. Also, thank you to family and friends who have supported them through this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be at Nemadji Cemetery in Superior. Military honors will be accorded by Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
