Dr. Arthur E. Marquart

Dr. Arthur Emerson Marquart, 86, of Blaine, MN, formerly of Superior, passed away on December 11, 2015. He was born on June 18, 1929, in Tomah, WI, to Edward “Ted” and Shirley J. (Pelletier) Marquart.

He graduated from high school in Perry, IA, went on to receive his Doctor of Dentistry from Marquette University Dental School, and served the next two years in the Korean War. Upon his return he spent his career practicing dentistry in Superior.

Art married Dianna Amys on July 12, 1958, in Superior and celebrated 57 years of marriage. He was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and also of Christ Lutheran Church in Blaine, MN.

Art was a committed member of the Wisconsin Dental Association holding many leadership offices, and was also active in the Duluth Dental Forum. He was enthusiastically involved with the Superior Elks Lodge #403 and enjoyed many recreational hours with the Superior Men’s Bowling Association, being inducted into the Superior Bowling Hall of Fame in 1991. He served for over 20 years on the WITC Foundation Board.

In addition to his wife Dianna, Art is survived by three daughters, Abby (Tony) Brown, Marine on St. Croix, MN, Anne (Mark) Bacigalupo, Blaine, MN, Kristine (Robert) Kennelly, Blaine, MN; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be two visitations to celebrate Art’s life. The first will be held on Tuesday, December 15, at 4:00 at Christ Lutheran Church in Blaine, MN, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 and light dinner. The second will be on Thursday, December 17, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, WI, with an 11:00 visitation and service at 12:00. Rev. Dr. Margaret Guelker will be officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Elks Club.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
