Dr Webster "Web" W Hansen

January 5, 1932 — December 24, 2016

Dr. Webster “Web” W. Hansen, 84, longtime Duluth/Superior area resident, died peacefully on Christmas Eve with his loving wife by his side at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.

He was born January 5, 1932 in Ashland, WI to Webster H. and Marlys (Bachand) Hansen.

He was a graduate of Superior Cathedral High School, class of 1950.

He married Janice Johnson on August 25, 1956 and they celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.

He graduated from Logan Basic College of Chiropractic in 1959 and attended post graduate school at Northwestern Chiropractic College and Palmer School of Chiropractic. He practiced in both Southern Minnesota and Duluth, MN until his retirement in 1993.

Web was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior and a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Duluth, where he served on the Finance Committee. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 4 th Degree. He was a former member of the Duluth-Superior Toastmasters Club and the Superior Elks Lodge #403.

He loved his volunteer work and friends at St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior.

Web enjoyed many pastimes. He was an avid golfer and Minnesota Viking’s fan. He enjoyed playing pool and cards. However his favorite was bowling. He was also a longtime member of the Duluth and Superior Men’s Bowling Association and was one of the area’s top bowlers for many years. He was inducted into the Superior Bowling Hall of Fame for his achievement and service to the game. Web was also a member of the Minnesota Chiropractic and American Chiropractic Associations.

He enjoyed wintering with his wife in Tucson, AZ for many years. He also loved the trips they took with St. Francis Travelers.

Web cherished his many friendships and his humor and warm words will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Hansen, Duluth, MN; daughters, Tracie Hansen and Mike Bergren, Superior, WI and Marlys Hansen, Duluth, MN; sons, Dale (Donna) Hansen, Proctor, MN, Dennis (Marla) Hansen, Willow River, MN and Scott (Shelly Meixsel) Hansen, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Lindsey (Mike) Koralia, Christopher Hansen, Anna Bergren, Adam Hansen, Evan Hansen, Ryan Hansen, and Noah Hansen; great-grandchildren, Ayana and Lucas Koralia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sandy (Ron) Archambault and Bruce (Betty) Johnson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Richard Decker and step-mother, Bea Hansen.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Web’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses, doctors, staff and volunteers from St. Mary’s Hospital and Solvay Hospice House in Duluth who touched their lives these past few weeks.
