Dwight J. Davis, 55, life long Superior resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born in Superior on December 22, 1954 the son of Dwight E. and Beatrice (Weaver) Davis.

He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1973 and received a B.A. in Geology from the UWS.

He married Lynn Catherine Simon on August 29, 1987 in Superior and recently had celebrated twenty-two years of marriage.

Dwight was employed by the Minnesota Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing for thirty-three years as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served in Iraq and was looking forward to a 2nd tour of duty in Iraq.

Dwight was the Worshipful Master of the Superior Masonic Lodge # 236. Dwight was heavily interested in the Military forms of Marshal Arts; Tai Chi and Karate and was working toward his Instructors Degree.

Dwight enjoyed classical music and played violin. Dwight and his wife Lynn were both master gardeners and active in the community. Dwight loved to share his knowledge and experience with those around him. He was also a Master Custom Wood Crafter.

Dwight is survived by his wife Lynn, Superior; two sons, Christopher Davern, Chippewa Falls, WI and Craig (Tina) Davern, Chippewa Falls, WI; two sisters, Mary Jane (Gerald) Raaflaub, Superior, WI and Karen (Robert) Wiltrout, Tony, WI; eight grandchildren, Shawn and Samantha Wilson, Trisha Davern, Trevor Davern, Brady Leskela, Chase and Taylor Micklozak, Nicholas Davern all of Chippewa Falls, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Beatrice Davis.

Visit will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior where a Masonic Service will be conducted by members of Superior Masonic Lodge #236 at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 11, 2010 and continue until the 12:00 Noon Military Memorial Service also at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.

Officiating at the service will be Pastor Darrell Kyle, Chaplin of the Minnesota Air National Guard, 148th Fighter Wing.

Pallbearers for the service will be members of the Minnesota Air National Guard, 148th Fighter Wing.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Minnesota Air National Guard, 148th Fighter Wing.
