Edward R. "Ed" Deniswicz

December 30, 1932 — May 19, 2014

Edward R. “Ed” Deniswicz, 81, Superior, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, MN.

He was born on December 30, 1932 in Superior to Walter and Stella (Konopacki) Deniswicz.

He grew up in Lake Nebagamon and graduated from Northwestern High School.

Ed worked for the Great Northern Railroad before serving in the Navy for four years. When he returned from the service, he married Geraldine “Geri” Gotelaere on May 23, 1959 and would have celebrated fifty-five years of marriage this year.

Together they moved to Washington D.C. where Ed was employed as a policeman for a short time.

Ed and Geri moved back to Superior where he joined the Superior Police Department for 20 years and worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad from which he retired after forty-four years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Ed’s life of being a Husband, Dad and Grandpa was most important to him. He enjoyed his two grandchildren, Kayla and Mitchell, and played an active role as a very special Grandpa.

Edward along with his wife Geri, traveled throughout the United States with Kayla and Mitchell. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them since they were born. He participated and supported them in many school events and holidays and birthdays. His grandkids were his pride and joy. We could not have asked for a more perfect Husband, Dad and Grandpa.

In addition to his wife Geri and his grandchildren, Kayla and Mitchell, he is survived by his son Mark and his wife Kimberly of Port Washington, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon and will continue until the 1:00 PM Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, officiating.
