Edward R. Mickendrow

October 17, 1949 — November 13, 2025

South Range

It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss we must announce the passing of Edward R. Mickendrow. Ed was a great and giving man who had a profound impact on the lives of everyone he touched. Ed passed on November 13, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born on October 17, 1949 to the parents of Walter “Big Ed” and Mary (Renne) Mickendrow in Jersey City, NJ.

Ed was blessed to share his life with his brothers and sisters who he loved and cared for immensely. They are Walter “Junior” Mickendrow, Marjane Scarpa, Josephine “Chucky” Brescia and Mark Mickendrow. Ed now joins Mary, Big Ed, Mark, Junior, and Marjane as they continue their journey to be with the Lord. Chucky continues to carry on the family legacy and holds a place of love in her heart for all who have passed before her.

Although Ed attended many different schools throughout his life, Ed was extremely proud of the degree he earned through the military while serving. Ed Served for the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged for his service. He went on to earn his degree in Marketing through Indianhead Technical College. Ed always believed he struggled when it came to education. However, anyone who knew Ed, knew how intelligent of a man he was. Not only did Ed have intelligence but he was an amazing tradesman, one others would call a jack-of-all-trades. He was a man who could accomplish any task he set his mind to.

In 1969, Ed met the love of his life, Lucy Machones, in Ft Brag, NC and on April 8, 1972 the two became one at St. Anthony’s parish in Superior, WI They continued to attend this church throughout their lives together. Lucy continues to hold vigil for Ed and will continue to maintain his memory and the love he showed others as she continues through life.

In 1978, Ed and Lucy moved to Superior, WI and eventually settled in South Range, WI where they raised their four children. Ed did so many things with his life, to suggest his career by listing one thing would be a travesty. Ed drove truck for Indianhead Trucking Company, did maintenance for multiple multi-unit apartment complexes as well as was a maintenance worker for multiple nursing homes. Ed may be best known for the fact that he and his wife built and worked their own hobby farm in which they not only grew multiple gardens but raised Black Angus cattle, horses, chickens, geese, pigs, and many other animals. They shared this farm and used it as a method to help raise and teach not only their children but the many foster children they took into their home throughout the years.

In addition to leaving behind his wife, Ed leaves behind his four children: Kimberly Radloff who lives in Cook Lake, MN, Edward “Eddy” Mickendrow who lives in Duluth, MN, Bruce Seamans who lives in Superior, WI, and Christopher Mickendrow, who lives in Las Cruces, NM. Ed will be terrible missed, but we hold his memory up as a beacon of a great way to live our lives.
